Offie is the Executive Director of a province-based network of NGOs, Palawan NGO Network. She is very active in environmental protection and engages in policy discussions with local political leaders and organizes campaigns, marches, rallies and small enterprise support activities.
“My work involves policy advocacy as well as direct action on the ground. In Palawan, a province in the south of the Philippines and recognized as a biodiversity hotspot, I work closely with indigenous peoples, farmers, fisherfolk, women and youth to address tenurial security, sustainable agriculture, youth education, coastal management, and gender sensitivity.”
Offie works with the United Tribes of Palawan – a federation of 72 community-based indigenous people’s organizations, assisting them with organizational management and advocating for delineation of ancestral domain by creating linkages to government and non-government offices/agencies/organization. Offie also assists with Palawan Conservation Corps – an NGO that works with out of school youth, providing input in organizational structure and linkages for capacity-building of the youth. |
